About Ashtavinayak Yatra

The Ashtavinayak Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimage circuits in Maharashtra, covering eight ancient temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Each temple houses a self-manifested (swayambhu) idol of Lord Ganesha. Completing this holy circuit is believed to fulfill devotees wishes and bring prosperity, wisdom, and removal of all obstacles from life.

The Eight Sacred Temples

1. Mayureshwar Temple, Morgaon - The starting and ending point. Lord Ganesha with six arms, riding a peacock. Most important of the eight.
2. Siddhivinayak Temple, Siddhatek - On the banks of river Bhima. Blessed Lord Vishnu with victory over demon Madhu.
3. Ballaleshwar Temple, Pali - Only temple named after a devotee. Idol has diamonds in eyes and navel.
4. Varadvinayak Temple, Mahad - Chintamani Temple. Idol holds gem in trunk. Direct access to sanctum.
5. Chintamani Temple, Theur - At confluence of Bhima and Indrayani rivers. Fulfilled wish of King Abhinandan.
6. Mahaganpati Temple, Lenyadri - Hilltop cave temple with 300+ steps. Idol with consorts Siddhi and Buddhi.
7. Vigneshwar Temple, Ozar - Vanquished demon Vignasura. Beautiful Hemadpanthi architecture.
8. Mahaganpati Temple, Ranjangaon - Final temple. Massive ten-armed idol. Patronized by Peshwas.
